RF Code Announces Active RFID Data Center Pilot Program PDF Print E-mail
Wednesday, 19 March 2008
RF Code, Inc., a leader in real-time physical asset tracking, today announced the availability of its Data Center Pilot Program aimed at giving data center managers a risk-free way to evaluate the industry's leading on-demand solution for tracking rack-based assets.

This totally new data center application of active RFID technology is now available through selected RF Code resellers. The program features a no-cost, 45-day trial period that puts RF Code's award-winning technology into the hands of professionals charged with tracking data center assets for inventory, audit, SLA, compliance and lease management initiatives.

Designed for enterprise data centers with over 100 racks of servers and storage equipment, the Pilot Pack consists of everything data center professionals need to evaluate the system for a full rollout. Included are a supply of rack-mounted and easily attached Inventory Asset Tags, Rack Door Tags, Rack Readers and RF Code's intelligent Zone Manager software. This software provides rack-level location of RF Code asset tags in real-time and then feeds that information into major enterprise asset management systems. As a result, enterprises have a more complete, more accurate accounting of their entire asset inventory, an important part of a best-practices ITAM (IT Asset Management) strategy.

"Adopting wireless asset tracking solutions to avoid agonizing asset inventories and audits creates time for projects that contribute directly to competitiveness and profitability," said Mitch Medford, RF Code CEO. "By offering our Pilot Pack Program, we're giving data center managers the tools they need to focus on those bottom line projects."

How the Solution Works

Powered by Active RFID (radio frequency identification), the RF Code Data Center solution conducts a complete and accurate inventory every 10 seconds, as opposed to the weeks it usually takes to track assets. This ends the need to manually collect asset inventory information from bar code scanners or passive RFID readers. As a result, data center professionals no longer take inventory; they automatically have an up-to-the-minute inventory of their critical computing assets.

Each high-performance RF Code Reader creates an automatic inventory zone in an equipment rack. RF Code's R-series Tags are easily mounted on servers and other rack-mounted equipment. When used with Zone Manager software, the Pilot Pack will generate a continuous inventory -- complete with location detail -- every 10 seconds.
