TAGSYS CETEMMSA Avery Dennison Pilot RFID-Infrastructure Deployment for Apparel Manufacturer Boboli PDF Print E-mail
Thursday, 12 June 2008

TAGSYS Europe: Angeline Fraud, Marketing Manager or US: John Kolakowski, Director, Marketing Communications TAGSYS, the global leader in item-level RFID (Radio Frequency IDentification) infrastructure, announced that Boboli, one of Spain's premier fashion houses for children, is piloting an RFID deployment program to effectively track and manage items from manufacturing through point-of-sale (POS).

Manufacturing over two million items per year that are distributed in 30 owned and operated shops, with products available throughout Europe, the Arab States, the Far East, and Americas, Boboli is the first Spanish brand apparel manufacturer to invest in an RFID item-level tracking system.

The initial pilot will consist of a TAGSYS UHF tunnel that will scan and read the RFID tagged contents of Boboli's inbound and outbound warehouse shipments in a few seconds. Scanned items will be automatically compared to the boxed item's packing slip to verify content accuracy. It is anticipated that this will reduce the amount of time that items remain in Boboli's distribution center by five days. Ultimately, this will enable Boboli to quickly and accurately replenish store inventory and ensure product availability to strengthen sales.

The pilot program will involve 10% of Boboli's production inventory with plans to expand full RFID deployment throughout all items. The final phase will integrate TAGSYS RFID at the store level to provide complete visibility and product tracking from manufacturing through point-of-sale.

"For us, this is a strategic bet. We are going to optimize our flows to keep up with our expansion, while reducing our operational costs and staying a step ahead of our competitors", said Mr. Domingo Garrido, Operations Director at Boboli.

TAGSYS' partner Cetemmsa, the Spanish innovation and technology center, defined the project's guidelines and will manage the execution, as well as provide technical support and ongoing consulting and training to Boboli's staff. TAGSYS' preferred labeling partner for the European fashion industry, Avery Dennison, will supply the hanging labels that will integrate with TAGSYS UHF tags.

"Once again, our partnerships approach proved its efficiency providing an integrated, turnkey RFID solution for Boboli. We are grateful thanks to the support of Cetemmsa and Avery Dennison we are gaining further attention in the apparel manufacturing and retail market", said Mr Didier Mattalia, TAGSYS Fashion and Apparel Sales Director.
