Intellident recently announced that they have extended their existing partnership services with Askews to jointly provide high-volume source tagging of items to the academic and public library sector.
Since 2006, Intellident has worked in collaboration with Askews, a leading provider of complete shelf-ready library items, to offer a range of RFID related products and services. Throughout this time the RFID library market has substantially grown and evolved, and as a result, individual libraries are now expecting their books, audio and visual material to arrive into the library in a "shelf-ready" status, with RFID tags programmed, overprinted (where relevant] and security activated.
Continuing the close relationship between the two companies, Intellident and Askews will now provide all existing customer libraries and future libraries with pre-tagged and programmed shelf-ready items, allowing staff to take stock directly to the shelf for immediate distribution. Additionally, each individual library can specify bespoke designs or have their design created by Intellident's team; including images, barcode, book title and book author, all of which can be overprinted. It is also possible to overprint with a process grid in line with NAG guidelines, thereby combining servicing operations.
Significantly, the material is delivered into the facility with no additional programming costs to the customer and minimal additional servicing charges. Intellident's open-standard label, together with tags from other self-service vendors can be incorporated into the pre-programming package, meaning shelf-ready stock is pre-tagged at source and will conform to UK standards.
Andy Chadbourne, Marketing and Communications Manager of Intellident said: "We are extremely pleased that we have been able to extend our partnership with Askews to provide libraries with a cost effective source tagging solution, whether it be for high or low volume stock. Crucially, this will enable libraries to trust that the items they order can be taken straight to shelf, having a positive impact on title availability and removing unnecessary back-room processing in the library".
Tim Cotterall, Askews Commercial Director added, "Askews and Intellident have worked closely over the last two years to service the early adopters of RFID, but we are now seeing an increased demand for shelf-ready items from our customers, as the technology becomes more common place. We will continue to take advantage of Intellident's technology experience in the market, which allows to focus on the servicing of the items".
Askews now join Peters Book Services, Ulverscroft and BBC Audio Books amongst the suppliers to have partnered with Intellident for the provision of RFID-ready items for the library market.
