Intellident Wins Contract with JFC College PDF Print E-mail
Thursday, 17 July 2008

May 2008 marks a significant month for Intellident's Dutch office, having successfully secured a systems contract with the highly reputable Johannes Fontanus College (JFC), located in Barneveld, the Netherlands. JFC is the largest Dutch College to offer library and information services to its 300 staff and 2,800 students and will be implementing Intellident's self-service RFID solution into its Media Centre over the coming months.

The complete solution will allow students to gain access to the full range of Intellident self-service functions. With the innovative smartServe kiosk and simple Liber8 interface, users will have the ability to borrow, return and renew items and pay for fines. In addition, to protect multimedia items, JFC have opted for a set of single aisle slimline security gates.

From a staffing perspective, the self-service solutions offer a full stock management system to track and trace reference items, general stock and high-value products. Staff will be issued with handheld readers which provide an instant method of locating misplaced stock for re-shelf and automated inventory checks, freeing time for staff to offer a more personal service to patrons.

With the aim for live operation of full self-service for September 2008, the Media Centre has already started attaching the RFID tags to the various media items. The Centre has previously operated by utilising a barcode-based system, however, since opting for Intellident's smart Media solution JFC will be implementing the smartLabel Print Package, which fully conforms to Dutch datamodel standards, for printing and initialising tags. By providing on-site printing and affixing, the package will ultimately enable fast tag application, with minimal service interruption.

Intellident are already the leading supplier of RFID tags to the Dutch market, and are currently working with several other leading Dutch libraries for the provision of complete self-service solutions. Further details will be released over the coming weeks.
