Wavelink Released Terminal Emulation Software PDF Print E-mail
Thursday, 14 August 2008

Wavelink Corporation announced the availability of Wavelink Terminal Emulation (TE) 7.1, the newest version of the industry's leading software for extending mission critical applications that are resident on mainframe systems to mobile workers. The new release has enhancements that improve productivity and increase compatibility with additional languages and scripting tools.

"By focusing on reliability and ease of use, Wavelink has built the most widely adopted terminal emulation solution on the market," said Mikkel Storm, Wavelink senior product manager. "Yet we continue to innovate and add new features that significantly improve productivity such as the recent addition of Wavelink Speakeasy voice-enabled emulation and now the ability to format mobile devices screens to look the way you want them to."

Wavelink TE, which just received the 2008 Best Products and Services Award for Terminal Emulation from Network Products Guide, helps businesses increase automation, productivity and efficiency. It provides the only complete client-side voice solution, through Speakeasy, for accessing emulation applications. With Wavelink TE, businesses can accept multiple input sources such as scanning, voice, RFID and keyboard entry. New features for Terminal Emulation 7.1 include:

  • Customized mobile device screens - With the new WYSIWYG screen re-formatter, administrators can optimize TE screens for mobile workers-setting the proper size and resolution, including only relevant data fields and providing on-screen help and notes for mobile users. This improves efficiency and training times, resulting in a higher ROI and customer satisfaction.

  • Compatibility with third-party script editors - Administrators can now import and export scripts between the TE scripting utility and third-party text editors. This allows administrators to write TE scripts in their preferred utility to improve ease of use and efficiency.

  • Additional language support - The Wavelink TE scripting utility now supports double-byte characters in Japanese, Mandarin Chinese, Cantonese Chinese and Korean to further the usability of Wavelink Speakeasy voice-enabled emulation.

Wavelink Terminal Emulation has more than 2.5 million clients deployed in mission-critical supply chain environments for thousands of companies, including 90 percent of North America's top 25 retailers. The software ships on more mobile devices than all of its competitors combined.

Wavelink Terminal Emulation 7.1 is now available as a free upgrade to customers with maintenance agreements and can be purchased through Wavelink partners.
