The work is expected to commence on the island after receipt of all necessary government approvals and following a final investment decision on the Chevron operated Gorgon Project from the Gorgon Joint Venture participants, expected in the second half of 2009.
"The Toll Group plans to execute the scope of work of this contract through the WA based operations of Toll Energy, which specialises in providing supply chain management and logistics services to the Oil and Gas exploration, construction and production industries in Australia," said Toll Group Managing Director Paul Little.
"Toll intends to look at further investments and organic growth in the resources sector both in Australia and overseas. The resources business continues to be a strong performer for the Group," Mr Little said.
The Gorgon Project is a joint venture between the Australian subsidiaries of Chevron (Operator), ExxonMobil and Shell, to develop the Greater Gorgon gas fields, located between 130km and 200km off the north-west coast of Western Australia. The Greater Gorgon gas fields contain resources of about 40 trillion cubic feet of gas, Australia's largest-known gas resource.
The Toll Group employs 30,000 people in more than 50 countries. Its global headquarters is in Melbourne, Australia.
