Company Reports Continuing Recognition of Its ZigBee-Based Real-Time Location System With New Hospital Contracts, Existing Account Expansions and New Partnerships

San Diego-based Awarepoint Corporation today announced it ended the second quarter of 2009 with 58 new hospital contracts, 14 existing hospital account expansions, and several new industry partnership agreements for its real-time location system (RTLS).

With its patented and patent-pending technologies, Awarepoint continues to expand its RTLS footprint throughout the healthcare sector to customers that include major integrated delivery networks, prestigious teaching institutions, premier independent facilities and military medical centers. Today, Awarepoint is contracted to manage more than 79,000 healthcare assets nationwide, boasting the largest healthcare RTLS 'assets under management' client base among its competitors.

In addition to significant success signing new hospital customers, Awarepoint's existing clients continue to expand the number and types of assets they are tracking enterprise-wide. Numerous customer RTLS expansions are currently underway.

"The real test of any company's value and customer service comes in having satisfied customers extend and broaden their relationship. We are pleased to see this with our existing customers who are continuing to expand the depth and breadth of their RTLS deployments by adding additional asset categories under management, or are in discussions to do so," noted Jason Howe, Chief Executive Officer of Awarepoint.

Most notably, UCSD Medical Center of La Jolla, California added a third facility to its RTLS deployment; University of California, San Francisco Medical Center expanded its current asset tag count, adding a substantial number of temperature monitoring tags, and is extending its RTLS installation to its Mt. Zion facility; Jackson Health System of South Florida installed both the Jackson North and Jackson South Hospitals; The University of Toledo Medical Center in Ohio is more than doubling its current asset tag count; and Tri-City Medical Center serving the North Coastal San Diego region is expanding the numbers and types of assets they are managing with RTLS.

Since mid-2009, Awarepoint has been involved in due diligence with several strategic partners within the healthcare segment. Today, Awarepoint announced it is actively working with Charlotte, North Carolina-based Patient Care Technology Systems (PCTS); Fargo, North Dakota-based Intelligent InSites; Houston, Texas-based Shipcom Wireless and healthcare group purchasing organization, Amerinet. These partners have healthcare offerings that can benefit from the availability of location awareness intelligence; and Awarepoint along with its healthcare distribution partner, Skytron, are partnering with them to provide the RTLS technology network infrastructure, installation, service and customer support.
