As part of an ongoing development plan to support ISO 28560-2 Information and Documentation - RFID in Libraries - PART 2: Encoding based on ISO/IEC 15962, Convergent Software Limited has achieved another milestone. In May 2009, it launched two schemes to help RFID vendors in the library sector to rapidly support the new ISO standard:

The first licensed versions of the development software have just been delivered. Major players in the sector are now able to use the software from Convergent Software and concentrate on adding additional service functions possible from the standard to meet the expected market demand later this year.
All of this coincides with the recent announcement that ISO 28560-2 passed its Draft International Standard ballot with 95% approval. In October 2009, the standard will be technically stable with approval for publication in December 2009. The final version of software, fully compliant with all aspects of ISO 28560-2, will be available by the time that the standard is published,
Both the development schemes are still open to vendors who are planning to support ISO 28560-2.
Convergent Software Limited will be releasing other software to support libraries and other end users adopting ISO 28560-2. This software will be complementary to the two development schemes.
