Advanced Card Systems Ltd. (ACS, wholly owned subsidiary of Advanced Card Systems Holdings Ltd., SEHK: 8210), Asia Pacific's number one supplier of PC-linked smart card readers, announces today that its ACR122 reader, the world's first NFC reader compliant with CCID, now supports the EZ-Online system, allowing ez-link card users to manage their new ez-link cards at home.
The new ez-link card, used for transportation and retail payment segments in Singapore, follows a standard based on ISO14443 contactless technology - CEPAS (Contactless e-Purse Application Specification), set by the Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore. The ACR122 is one of the first NFC readers supporting ISO14443 A&B, Mifare card, Felica card and other NFC tags in the market. With a wide range of cards supported, the ACR122 allows for a smooth transition from existing to new ez-link cards and is also ready for future mobile NFC applications. In addition, the ACR122 is CCID compliant (Chip/Smart Card Interface Devices) and minimizes the troubles of driver installation for end-users.
With the ACR122, ez-link card users can do the following at home through the EZ-Online application on the Internet:
- Check and print the most recent 20 transaction records of the ez-link card
- Top-up the ez-link card from a bank account
- Load ez-Coupons onto the ez-link card to redeem benefits at retail shops by presenting the ez-link card
- Do online shopping (available later)
"Since the ACR122 was launched in late 2007, its market penetration is very good. We are glad that ACS was chosen to take part in this groundbreaking EZ-Online project," said Gilbert Leung, Sales Director of ACS. "The ACR122 NFC Reader has been effectively proven in this project which also highlights again the competence of ACS products supporting contactless and NFC technologies."
