Magellan Technology Pty Ltd of Sydney (Magellan), the Australian RFID solutions provider, unveiled its new 3D Desktop Jewellery RFID reader, the M3DR-4330.
The M3DR-4330 Jewellery Reader brings superior 3-Dimensional read and write orientation to a convenient and portable bench top reader.
“This new Reader can read tags in any orientation, including tags placed vertically or horizontally in diamond boxes, tags on the bottom of gem display boxes and tags on rings in ring trays. Before the M3DR-4330, this would have required at least two separate readers.
The reader is also fully shielded so that it can be placed on any surface including metal tables or showcases” commented Roger Webber, Magellan’s Global Vice President, Sales and Marketing.
"This reader is a major advance in the field of RFID" continued Mr Webber. "We developed this reader to meet the demands of the diamond market, complementing our already comprehensive range of readers and tunnels. Pilot trials in Sydney have gone very well, with early orders already coming in. We are expecting to start installations in March”.
The M3DR-4330 has a large read area and can read more than 750 tags in under 5 seconds. It is also designed so it will only read and write to tags on top of the reader, thus eliminating accidental reading or encoding of other tags near the reader.
When combined with Magellan’s PJM Diamond Soft software, it enables Jewellers and Dealers to quickly and accurately count and track the movement of precious stock. The data can then be effortlessly exported in an excel sheet format for standalone use or for importing into stock management systems.
The M3DR-4330 supports a wide variety of different sizes of StackTag™ and ItemTag™ labels, enabling the widest possible range of jewellery items to be tagged and read.
As with all Magellan’s readers, the M3DR-4330 has a Linux based operating system that allows it to be connected to a Windows Operating System environment via either USB and Ethernet interfaces. The reader uses the communication protocol specified in the ISO/IEC Standard, 18000-3 Mode 2. The new reader is now available from Magellan and its Authorised Resellers and Premium Partners.
