IPICO's timekeeping system proved an unqualified success at the Virgin London Marathon held last weekend in London, England.
Seventy-four IPICO Sports Elite Readers were deployed at sixteen read points, including three separate start lines and three finish arches. London Marathon Ltd. and IPICO Sports announced on November 18, 2009 a five-year agreement to provide data collection technology services to all of the events in the London Marathon Ltd. portfolio.
Gordon Westwater, President and CEO of IPICO Inc. said "We are especially proud to be such an important part of the inaugural Virgin London Marathon and we look forward to our long term relationship with this world class event. Given the very significant logistical issues posed by the volcanic disruption of air travel leading up to the race, this success is testament to the organization and team effort."
David Bedford, Race Director of London Marathon Ltd. "We are absolutely delighted with the performance of the IPICO Sports system. We have worked very closely with IPICO for a number of years defining the performance criteria, and IPICO Sports met and surpassed the exacting standards which we demand of data collection technology services, equipment and systems."
IPICO Sports next-generation tracking and timing solutions are developed by IPICO Inc. using its unique technology, the IP-X RFID Air-interface Protocol. This technology was developed to overcome the limitations faced by conventional protocols in the market. The technology's real advantage lies in its ability to work even in harsh and challenging environmental conditions. The patented Dual Frequency technology virtually eliminates signal loss and tag read collision and works especially well for objects high in liquid, carbon and electronic content, such as the human body. IPICO Sports systems are now used in over thirty-six different countries, and continue to develop and grow a loyal following throughout the globe.
