BAS Trucks to secure 100 percent visibility and improve customer service with real-time locating system
Zebra Enterprise Solutions (ZES), a division of Zebra Technologies announced BAS Trucks will implement ZES' ISO/IEC 24730-2 Real Time Locating System (RTLS) to help increase sales and improve customer service. Based more than 50 miles south of Amsterdam, BAS Trucks will install the ISO 24730-2 RTLS at its main facility to provide slot visibility for its inventory of used-trucks.
BAS Trucks, a worldwide leader in the buying and selling of used freight trucks, trailers and semi-trailers, sells more than 100 trucks per week. They have a continually rotating inventory of 800 to 1,250 vehicles located across their Mac Arthurweg facility and multiple remote sites. The ISO 24730-2 RTLS solution will provide BAS Trucks with increased visibility to aid in stock count, truck movement, and vehicle location. ISO 24730-2 RTLS is the international standard for real-time locating systems that operate at an internationally available 2.4 GHz frequency. The ISO 24730-2 WhereNet product line provides a scalable solution for enterprise-wide tracking of assets inside and outside a facility. Highly regarded for its flexible RTLS infrastructure and long range location coverage, the ISO 24730-2 RTLS technology provides customers with end-to-end supply chain asset tracking visibility that can be "application matched" from high resolution X-Y-Z coordinate positioning and tracking to basic presence detection.
BAS Trucks will be able to eliminate manual searches, analyze vehicle movements and dwell times, and instantly inform customers of the availability of alternative models. They will be able to deliver an improved experience for potential customers by locating specific vehicles and getting them to a location for inspection in less than ten minutes. These new capabilities will allow them to drive increased sales.
"We chose the ZES solution because we wanted to work with a proven solutions provider within the automotive industry. ZES has the technology and experience to help us successfully execute our Vehicle Locate Project and deliver increased value to our customers," said Theo Van Kempen, Director of Business Operations at BAS Trucks. "ZES best understood our business requirements and proposed a solution to accomplish our main objective of achieving complete visibility across our four sites."
The ISO 24730-2 RTLS offers the ability to continuously track, measure, and manage vehicle movement anywhere within a facility, both indoors and outdoors. The long range capabilities of the technology provide the only viable solution for RTLS across large areas. The solution provides the ability to increase throughput, reduce labor costs, and increase utilization of valuable facility workspace.
"We are excited to leverage our experience in the automotive industry to deliver these solutions to BAS Trucks," said Christopher Horne, Regional Sales Manager Business Solutions at ZES. "As we look ahead to the deployment of our solution, we expect BAS Trucks to experience a significant return on their investment and enhance customer service."
