Support Services Supplier Implements Solution Following Successful Pilot
Zebra Enterprise Solutions (ZES) announced A. Harvey & Co. Ltd. (A. Harvey) is implementing an integrated technology solution to locate and monitor containers at its offshore marine base in St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada. The solution, delivered by IDBLUE utilizing hardware and software from ZES, will support offshore logistical operations to ultimately provide complete supply chain visibility, resulting in reduced costs.
A. Harvey, a leading supplier of support services to the Canadian Marine and offshore oil and gas industries, is employing the solution following a successful pilot program. IDBLUE, a ZES channel partner with complete system integration capabilities from consulting to implementation, is overseeing the development, delivery and support of the solution.
"By partnering with ZES we have been able to create a unique solution that can withstand the harsh environment of the Canadian offshore, and deliver real-time data and visibility to improve A. Harvey's logistical operations," said Jeff Brown, Vice-President of Services at IDBLUE.
The solution was driven based on IDBLUE's extensive experience delivering enhanced asset visibility and integrity solutions. Incorporated in the solution is a real-time locating system (RTLS) from ZES including RFID tags and Visibility Server Software (VSS). VSS is an integrated visibility software package that provides all the tools required to design, configure, operate and troubleshoot RTLS solutions.
"This solution will allow us to locate containers, and the high value assets within them, in real-time and in turn deliver cost savings," said Geoff Cunningham, General Manager, A. Harvey & Co. Ltd. "In addition, the enhanced visibility from the solution helps us with our maintenance function by including accurate checks to ensure all of our containers are certified before they are sent offshore."
The implementation is planned over three-phases. Upon completion A. Harvey will be able to include RFID tags on high value assets within containers and achieve complete supply chain visibility. In addition, the solution will be integrated into A. Harvey's existing ERP system.
