Elatec TCPConv Helps Simplify Retrofitting Identity Solutions in Networks
Whether campus solution, office automation, or access control, existing legacy peripheral devices that previously could only be backfitted with RFID readers at great cost or not at all present one of the highest obstacles to retrofitting identity solutions.
With TCPConv, a USB/RS232 Ethernet switch, RFID specialist Elatec now offers a both smart and affordable solution for backfitting RFID readers across the entire corporate network. This is accomplished by simply inserting the TCPConv, which is no more than 82 x 65 x 25mm in size, into the local area network, using its two LAN ports, in front of the endpoint device, a printer, for instance. The successful TWN3 Multi reader can then be connected via the RS232 and USB interface. This enables to integrate printers and other peripheral devices on the network smoothly into the RFID infrastructure of office and access control solutions.
Elatec's new TCPConv switch can also be used to TCP/IP-enable TWN3 RFID readers, making it easy to integrate and manage them in corporate networks. Optionally, other RS232 Ethernet and USB devices may also be integrated into a LAN using TCPConv.
TCPConv can be connected at 10/100 Mbps as a TCP server or TCP client. Apart from TCP, protocols such as IPV4, IPV6 (optional), DHCP, ARP, and PING are also available.
