EarthSearch Announces Developing RFID Sensor Solution to Monitor and Locate Critical Underwater Pipelines and Assets
East Coast Diversified Corporation, through its subsidiary EarthSearch Communications, Inc., announced that it is developing LogiBoxx RFID sensor solution for monitoring and location of critical underwater pipelines and infrastructures.
The Company announced it has expanded its pipeline monitoring system to include the ability to monitor underwater pipeline and infrastructure systems for such areas as gas, electrical cables, or for companies with underwater assets and oil drilling operations. "Inquiries and interests from pipeline owners and companies with underwater assets have prompted our acceleration of R&D into this core area of our business, which is the delivery of precise GPS coordinates and location of events broadcasted by RF sensor in real time," said Kayode Aladesuyi, CEO ECDC.
The technology is based on low frequency RF and will provide the ability for organizations with underwater assets to monitor and locate pipelines and other systems. "Sometimes underwater pipelines are moved or dragged by anchors; divers need to service these assets and have to locate them underwater, or in the event of damage to underwater assets, our system will provide detection technology that can communicate with data extraction devices or above water receivers with event and precise location data," said JM Wang, R&D for ECDC.
EarthSearch technology will allow system analysts to make effective and speedy analysis of any breaks or disruptions within a pipeline system, either due from sabotage or natural events, and efficiently focus repair resources to get such mission critical services back online.
Kayode Aladesuyi, the Chairman and CEO of ECDC, commented, "As we currently see in Japan, the ability for system analysts, and utilities companies to pinpoint, in real-time, disruption and damage to mission critical underground and underwater pipelines are a major issue when faced with reestablishing these systems. The ability to use RFID with sensor technology to quickly identify problems within a system, and focus the resources needed to bring those services back online could prove very cost effective for utilities, privately managed pipeline systems, and the customers they serve".
