Snappy will allow easy and immediate UHF RFID compliance to existing on-field and new PSION Ikôn devices
Psion, a global provider of mobile computing solutions, and CAEN RFID, a European supplier of UHF RFID products, today launched Snappy, a new UHF RFID reader with an integrated antenna. Developed by CAEN RFID for short range applications, the device snaps on to the bottom of the Psion Teklogix Ikôn and provides it with UHF RFID read and write capabilities from a distance of up to 50cm. The Snappy reader is powered and controlled directly by the Ikôn, allowing the device to read of EPC Class1 Gen2 UHF RFID tags.
The core component of the Snappy reader is the new CAEN RFID Quark module, which is both the smallest and has the lowest power consumption of any module currently available on the market. The same software interface allows operation of the Snappy reader in multiple languages enabling retailers, transport companies, warehouses and other global organizations to use the device in multiple countries and languages as required. The reader is used in multiple areas including, asset and container tracking, utility applications, delivery rounds and inspections and product tracking in busy environments like assembly lines.
