One of the most promising areas of application for RFID technology is the optimization of supply chains. Goods that are equipped with UHF transponders can be scanned automatically while moving from the factory via the distribution center to the point of sale with correct amount and location of every object always stored in the company's IT system.

To fully use this potential, it is important that all transponders in an application are found and scanned. To reach this goal, metraTec offers its UHF RFID Tunnels UT55 and UT75. The UT55 has inside dimensions of 55x55 cm which allows scanning boxes with a standard size of 60x40x40 cm. The UT75 has inside dimensions of 75x75 cm so you can even scan half-sized euro-pallets with 80x60x60 cm. Besides all necessary RFID components, the tunnels have integrated light barriers for entry/exit detection and a manual roll conveyor. Optionally, a motorized conveyor belt can be integrated.
 
Using a special RF construction that was developed and patented in cooperation with the Fraunhofer IFF, an optimal distribution of the reader field inside the tunnel is guaranteed. This allows for extremely high read rates of UHF transponders even in difficult situations (metal in the field, transponders very close to each other, etc.). Even high numbers of tags (400 and more) can be scanned in a few seconds with this product.
