The Hoeft & Wessel Group is the leading IT and engineering technology Group for ticketing, parking and mobile solutions in Germany and Great Britain. Established in 1978 by the two entrepreneurs who gave the company its name and listed on the stock market since 1998, the enterprise has developed into a group of companies with sales revenues of nearly EUR 100 million and a workforce of 500 employees. Skeye – Mobile Terminals by Hoeft & Wessel 

As one of Europe’s leading manufacturers, Skeye – part of the Hoeft & Wessel Group – provides a wide range of mobile terminals. The devices allow complex information to be captured and processed efficiently. In addition to WLAN, GPRS, EDGE, UMTS, HSDPA, GPS and Bluetooth, the terminals can also be fitted with imaging capabilities such as laser scanners and RFID readers. Both Microsoft Windows Embedded CE and Windows Mobile are available as operating systems. Development frameworks for use in software development and a device management system complement the range of devices.

The array of mobile terminals on offer covers every requirement: from the ergonomically designed skeye.allegro series for one-handed operation and the versatile industrial PDA skeye.dart, right through to devices in tablet format with larger displays. Examples are the new, particularly robust skeye.e-motion, the skeye.pad that can be operated using the touch screen, and the skeye.pos series with integrated printer and card reader for use in POS applications. While the product portfolio, which covers devices with screen sizes ranging from 2.8” to 8.4”, caters specifically to the needs of the logistics and transportation as well as retail sectors, the terminals are also deployed in other fields of application.

In the category of mobile terminals equipped with RFID technology, Skeye also is one of the leading providers in Europe. Amongst other things, the product range includes a mobile UHF terminal with one of the longest ranges on the market.

In the German retail sector, Skeye has already had a leading role in mobile data capture since the 1980s. The highly ergonomic, efficient and proven mobile terminals in this broad range are suitable for integration into merchandise management and retail logistics systems. In addition, the mobile terminals made by Skeye are also deployed in POS systems. State-of-the-art payment terminals complete the range of products on offer. German retail chains of note as well as European trading houses are among Skeye’s customers in the retail sector.

Demand for mobile terminals in tablet format with screens up to 8,4” in size is growing in the transport logistics and field services segments. These devices are suitable for permanent installation in vehicles, or they can be used as mobile companions for order management purposes. Customers in this segment include specialised forwarding agencies, express package courier services as well as major service organisations such as large automobile associations in Germany and in the United Kingdom.
