The antenna is transmitting radio signals, to controll the transponder read/write data to/from it. Antennas are the links between the transponder and the transceiver, that is controlling the commuication and data capturing of the systems. The transponder emits  his data via radio frequency to the reading device, when it is activated by the energy of the radio waves.
