Also innovative technology has its limits. With the actual stand of play RFID has the following limits:
- Metallic environments have a strong interfere and influence on a RFID system and is resulting in reducing of reading range (although there are special solutions that operate in metallic environments very good. But these are no mass applications)
- Other radio systems, that operate on a simalar frequency band can interfere as well. Additionally there is a dependence that underlies national and international frequency regulations, for that no standard guidelines exist.
- The data of the transponders can not be read manually like on a barcode the RFID system fails. This can be solved through printing a basic barcode onto the label or the case.
