NFC/RFID developer and manufacturer SMARTRAC has officially opened its ‘Tap and Play – Global Experience Center’ in Tampere, Finland. Run in cooperation with industry leading partners like Cartamundi, NXP Semiconductors and Twinsprite, the facility is a unique, global knowledge center dedicated to the use of NFC technology in mobile gaming.

Full interoperability and additional service possibilities offered with new T-Mobilitat card
NXP Semiconductors N.V. announced that the Barcelona Metropolitan Transport Authority (ATM) will use MIFARE® DESFire® for their new mobility card, T-Mobilitat. Barcelona’s long-term ambition to become a self-sufficient and innovative city through progressive urban transformation is one-step closer with the new T-Mobilitat card, which will provide over 5.7 million inhabitants of the city with easy access to public transportation.

SMARTRAC and PROVA Group have announced their cooperation to leverage NFC technology and cloud-based services to ensure collectible items and brand goods are authenticated.
Global counterfeiting and product piracy damages may reach a stunning $1.7 trillion in 2015 according to a study* by the International Chamber of Commerce. The partnership between SMARTRAC and PROVA will reduce that amount by enabling consumers and companies to use NFC tags embedded in brand items to verify their originality with a smartphone app. The same technology will allow collectors to tap a smartphone onto the NFC tagged item to instantly access a rich set of information stored in the cloud.

PAV with NFC smart solution in finals of Print Stars 2014

Their approach was then nominated for "idea and implementation" in the finals of the Print Stars 2014 award.
