RFID transponders can be differenced into tags that already have unique unalterable data on the chip since they were manufactored. These are called "Read-Only" transponders. Another type of transponder has the same characteristics that a "Read-only" has, the only difference is that writing data on the chip afterwards is possible. These transponders can be programmed similar to a DVD-R and DVD-RW.
