Please note that the following article contains slight spoilers for the Falcon and Winter Soldier series. If you don’t want to know anything, we invite you to read our presentation of the first episode or watch the trailer below.
The Falcon and the Winter Soldier series is Marvel’s next big hit. It will air on the Disney + streaming platform and is now nearing its end with only one episode left to discover. But what will happen to the different characters? If we can assess without too many risks that Sam Wilson / Falcon (played by Anthony Mackie) and Bucky Barnes / the Winter Soldier (played by Sebastian Stan) will always be in films or series, what about the others?
A super soldier who should come back
The series allowed us to spot various super soldiers. First of all, of course, there were the Flag Smashers. Then the character of John Walker (played by Wyatt Russel) who took the last available dose of serum. If the future of these various characters at least seems to be in jeopardy without going into too many details, it’s another super soldier who should return in the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. This is the character of Isaiah Bradley who appeared in Episode 2 of the Marvel miniseries.
This character, played by Carl Lumbly, is actually the first black super soldier in the US Army. We can surmise that his loyalty to the US military has been exploited and that he has been the victim of terrible experiences. He has already appeared twice to tell excerpts from his story. However, according to Nate Moore, the show’s producer, that should leave a lasting mark on the MCU. He thinks the role of Isaiah Bradley is much more important because unlike comics, he can still play a role. Indeed, as he describes it, on the comic book page it was “a vegetable, he was infantilized and his powers had been stolen”. It is therefore a character who can have “real influence”.
It remains to be seen how this will look. We may know more in the next episode. Note that his grandson Elijah Bradley might end up playing Patriot, another Avenger. Case to follow.
