If you’re never one of those to drive a 100% electric Ferrari in 2025, you might be tempted by this new Audi A6 e-tron concept, freshly made official by the German manufacturer. As part of the Shanghai 2021 trade fair, the Audi Group is presenting the pioneer of an innovative family of fully electric series cars.
It’s an e-volution!
Audi, which is already very present in the electromobility market, is not weakening and is formalizing this Audi A6 e-tron concept. Remember that the current Audi A6 TFSI e (2019) has a plug-in hybrid mechanism and an electric range of up to 91 kilometers. This new concept is based exclusively on electrical energy on the basis of the future PSA platform, which was developed under the direction of Audi.
As is so often the case, special attention was paid to the aerodynamics with a Cx value of just 0.22. In combination with new optimizations on the battery and motor side, the vehicle’s aerodynamics allow this Audi A6 e-tron a range of over 700 km.
A concept that is characterized by 22-inch rims, with smooth transitions between the various surfaces of the body and an assertive “monolith” side. Electric car needed, here we find an atypical front with a closed single-frame grille, with air inlets at the bottom to cool the engine, but also the battery and the brakes.
The key element of the PSA platform is a battery module between the axles, which in the A6 e-tron concept contains around 100 kWh of energy. Using the entire vehicle base results in a relatively flat battery layout. The two electric motors of the Audi A6 e-tron can deliver a total output of 350 kW (476 hp) and a torque of 800 nm. After all, like the Audi e-tron GT, the Audi A6 e-tron concept can be charged to up to 270 kW at fast charging stations in a very short time.
A little more patience, as the first vehicles of the Audi series that were built on the new PSA platform will be presented successively from the second half of 2022.
