New Apple TV 4K uses A12 Bionic Chip to improve video quality

If the iMac and new iPad Pro were the stars of Apple’s Spring Loaded event, the company also took the opportunity to showcase other new features like the availability of the iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 mini in purple, as well as a new Apple TV 4K. This new Apple TV is rolling out at a time when we anticipate an increase in shipments of connected products around the world.

To attract consumers, Apple decided to boost the performance of this Apple TV 4K by using the A12 Bionic chip. Thanks to this component, with which the iPhone XS was equipped in 2018, the new Apple TV supports 4K HDR (High Dynamic Range) and Dolby Vision videos at high frame rates. Actions appear more realistic thanks to the frequency of 60 frames per second.

To enable content optimization, Apple also says it is working with service providers like FOX Sports, NBCUniversal, Paramount +, Red Bull TV and Canal + to support high frequency HDR video. The other benefit is that your videos recorded on the iPhone 12 can be viewed in Dolby Vision and at 60 fps on the Apple TV 4K via AirPlay.

Another feature highlighted by Apple: the settings. For the settings to be optimal, the Apple TV 4K essentially uses the iPhone’s light sensor and compares the color balance to industry standards. “With this data, Apple TV automatically adjusts its video output to achieve much more accurate colors and improved contrast without customers ever having to adjust their TV settings,” explains Cupertino. This means that the user no longer has to adjust the settings of his television set.

A new, more ergonomic remote control

Finally, Apple is also introducing a new remote control that comes with the Apple TV 4K. This new remote control has an aluminum design and a clickpad with directional buttons and a tactile surface that makes it easy to navigate. In addition, the clickpad supports a rotary movement with which the user can control a video player, for example.

The button to bring up Siri has been moved to the edge for better access. There is also a power button to turn the TV on or off, as well as a mute button.

“Apple TV 4K is in a league of its own, leveraging the deep integration of Apple hardware, software and services that is a massive upgrade for any TV for the best cinematic experience,” said Bob. Borchers, vice president of Apple. “With the A12 Bionic and the brand new remote control, customers with Apple TV 4K can enjoy their favorite shows, films and more in the highest quality with simple and intuitive controls. And of course, Apple TV 4K offers easy access to Apple services as well as thousands of apps in the App Store for even more entertainment options. “

In France, the 32 GB RAM version costs 199 euros, while the 64 GB RAM version costs 219 euros. The product will be available in May and pre-orders will start on April 30th.
