The media put a lot of emphasis on high-end Samsung smartphones that focus on the latest innovations. In reality, however, mid-range devices are just as important to the business. This year the company also decided to bring these mid-range smartphones to the fore.
While Samsung’s mid-range devices are usually showcased through simple press releases, the group hosted a virtual unpacked event this year to showcase the Galaxy A52 and Galaxy A72. These models were also featured in the press as Samsung’s future bestsellers.
For example, the Galaxy A51 was the best-selling smartphone in the first quarter of 2020. As a result, the Galaxy A52 is expected to have the same success.
But apparently Samsung hasn’t announced everything yet. In the past few months, rumors have been circulating about another mid-range model called the Galaxy A82 5G. And this week, Samsung confirmed the device’s existence.
It’s unknown if this was an accident or if it was intentional, but on an informational page for Android operating system updates, Samsung mentions the Galaxy A82 5G in the list of devices eligible for quarterly updates.
A middle class with better features?
Logically, the Samsung Galaxy A82 should be a mid-range device. However, it should have a better technical sheet compared to the Galaxy A72 and appeal to slightly more demanding customers who do not want to buy a premium model like the Galaxy S21, S21 + or S2 Ultra.
The Galaxy A82 should also be the successor to the Galaxy A80 presented in 2019. This device stands out from other smartphones with its design, as it has a rotating and sliding camera with which the rear sensors can take selfies. However, according to rumors, the Galaxy A82 should have a more classic design.
Currently, rumors are already circulating about the technical data sheet of this device. According to our colleagues at Sammobile, the Galaxy A82 could have a 6.7-inch AMOLED Infinity-O screen with QHD + resolution and a refresh rate of 120 Hz. This screen would also contain an ultrasonic fingerprint scanner.
The device would come with Android 11 and be equipped with the Snapdragon 855+ processor from Qualcomm, 6 GB of RAM memory and 128 GB of storage. On the front there would be a front sensor with 10 megapixels. On the back there is a 64-megapixel wide-angle sensor, a 12-megapixel ultra-wide-angle sensor and a 5-megapixel macro.
Of course, this information on the Galaxy A82’s technical data sheet is not yet official. And that’s why caution is always advisable. Nevertheless, the device is expected to have a very interesting technical sheet and a good price-performance ratio.
At the moment we don’t know when Samsung will present this smartphone.
