A few months ago, Ford turned its famous Mustang into an amazing Mach-E-SUV. In the near future, the American manufacturer will be competing with Tesla with a new 100% electric car that is clearly aiming to compete with the future cybertruck. A new zero-emission vehicle inspired by another of the brand’s flagship models: the F-150.
The Ford F-150 in flash mode
In the USA, the Ford F-150 is a pick-up that is particularly popular with motorists and has known no fewer than 13 generations since its first market launch in 1948. It will be the 100% electric version of this famous pick-up. It was named “Lightning” and Ford decided to teaser the whole thing in video.
“The fact is that a new vehicle regularly shakes up the market and changes the game. Model T, Mustang, Prius, Model 3 and now the F-150 Lightning. America’s most popular vehicle for nearly half a century is going digital and electric, ”says Jim Farley proudly.
The Ford F-150 Lightning not only enables its owner to drive in emission-free mode, but also promises other functions, as the CEO of Ford explains, for example, that he can supply the house with power in the event of a power failure. Of course, like any good self-respecting electric and connected vehicle, the new Ford F-150 Lightning can offer new features via updates, similar to our game consoles, smartphones and smart TVs.
Remember that from 2030 Ford only wants to sell electric cars in Europe. From mid-2026, all models in the product range will be available in plug-in hybrid or electric versions. So the future at Ford will be electric … or not. Ford will showcase its electric pickup in greater detail on May 19th.
