Microsoft’s Xbox Game Studios today announced an exclusive partnership with Chinese giant Tencent and its Timi Studios division. The latter is the origin of many bestsellers in the mobile video game market, including Honor of Kings or Call of Duty Mobile.

For Microsoft and Nintendo a few years ago, the goals seem to be directed towards mobile video games. A partnership with Tencent would allow Xbox to fully develop this new market, and it could do so quickly, to believe the message released by the Chinese studio that evokes “a strategic and thorough partnership”.
The statement released by Timi Studios states: “Through this strategic collaboration, Tianmei Studio Group will conduct multi-dimensional and in-depth collaboration and communication with Xbox Game Studios to jointly create excellent game content and create an entirely new sensory gaming experience for the majority of the Player. “
Keep in mind that Microsoft has already gained a foothold in the cellular market with its xCloud offering now available to everyone through Game Pass Ultimate. The American giant could dream bigger, however, with the option of declining its home licenses for iOS and Android to reach a pretty gigantic group of gamers.
When we see the results of Nintendo’s mobile division, or those of licenses like Call of Duty or Fornite, everything is there to encourage the video game giants to try their luck on mobile. It remains to be seen what the fruits of this Xbox / Tencent collaboration will be, but it is certain that one of Microsoft’s many licenses will be adapted to the mobile sauce very soon.
