Originally expected for the end of 2020, the film Dune, signed by Denis Villeneuve, was finally postponed to 2021, which was to blame for a certain pandemic. If everything goes according to plan, this rerun of Dune will hit theaters on September 15th. The film will be released simultaneously in theaters and on the HBO Max platform in the US on October 1st.
The old dune is back in 4K
But the other good news for fans of Frank Herbert’s work is the upcoming re-release of the very first Dune in an Ultra HD 4K version. In fact, ArrowFilmsVideo has confirmed the availability of a box set that includes the film in a remastered version with various bonuses. Everything will be available at the end of August.

In addition to a brand new 4K HDR image taken from the original negative, this reissue from Dune also lets you enjoy uncompressed stereo audio with the added bonus of a DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 audio section. So what does a little treat for peepers and Esgourdes promise.
For now, however, it appears that only the US and UK markets are affected by this Dune release. For the little anecdote, let’s remember that despite its cult status, David Lynch’s first dune was a real commercial failure at the time.
Regarding the new Dune coming to theaters, Denis Villeneuve explains: “My team and I have spent more than three years of our lives making it a unique experience on the big screen. The picture and sound of our film were meticulously designed so that it can be seen in cinemas. ”This is the end of the year, which should therefore be auspicious for all lovers of this work, which was inspired by Frank Herbert’s 1965 novel.
