Tell me why is Pride Month free on PC and Xbox

June 1st marked the start of Pride Month, and it was at that point that Dontnod decided to make their Tell Me Why game free for Xbox, Windows 10, and Steam. It is therefore possible to download it directly and you can still play it after the month of June.

Tell me why is a storytelling gem

On the special website, the French studio gives the reasons for its choice:

Since the release of Tell Me Why at the end of last summer, the team at Dontnod and Xbox Game Studios Publishing has been touched and deeply grateful for the many gamers, especially trans and queer gamers, who have found understanding and hope in our game. We’ve had sincere messages from players around the world explaining how Tyler’s return as a trans man and Alyson’s battle with trauma touched, encouraged, or made them feel a little less alone, especially in the context of the global Covid-19 pandemic and the ubiquitous transphobia rhetoric in the US and UK.

With the money saved, Dontnod hopes to encourage players to donate to charities that help trans and queer communities. Your recommendations are visible on the game page.

Remember that Tell me Why is a storytelling gem. The game takes us into the lives of Alyson and Tyler Ronan, a twin brother and sister who reunite after decades of separation. Here they are gathered in a small town in Alaska. Their return to their parents’ home brings painful trauma with them. They then realize that they can communicate through thoughts and remember their memories.

Then there are several gray areas that affect her mother, friends and those around her. It is the beginning of a search for intimate truth that will be dealt with as a police investigation. We won’t say more so as not to spoil the suspense, but we cannot recommend Tell me Why enough.
