Indeed, if some one day dreamed of a Gran Turismo 7 for the launch of the PS5 late last year, they had to make up their minds to be patient with their problems. In all likelihood, the new game with the signature Polyphony Digital should hit the market in 2021. However, as we learned a few months ago, Gran Turismo 7 won’t be available until 2022.
Better (or worse), the game that was once PS5 exclusive will eventually be available on PS4 as well. “If it makes sense to develop a title for both PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5, such as Horizon Forbidden West, the next God of War and Gran Turismo 7, we will continue to do so,” explains the Sony framework. Remember, the new Horizon Forbidden West is also available on PS5 and PS4.
As I’m sure you understand, Gran Turismo 7 will not only be available for PS4, but also for the new God of War. On this subject too, if some were hoping to find Kratos on their PS5 in 2021, you actually have to wait (at least) until 2022 to find this hero with a polished head and thick beard. It was the Santa Monica Studio that confirmed the news in a brief statement.
So a blow for the owners of the PS5, who see two exclusive titles escape in quick succession. On the Sony side, of course, we intend to keep making the tens of millions of PS4s around the world profitable … and it’s a shame if it displaces the “exclusive” side of the PS5 a bit. In this context, Sony Interactive Entertainment estimates that PS4 games and additional content will make up 70% of the revenue from the PlayStation Store in the current financial year.
