Release date, multiplayer, battle royale, everything you need to know about Call of Duty’s new rival

In just four short days, Electronic Arts will emerge from the silence to reveal the next part of Battlefield. An event that is on the list of many gaming-related events not to be missed this summer. It will follow from 4 p.m. and we should discover the first pictures as well as the first details about this title, which is one of the most anticipated of the year without any discussion.

To wait for the EA official news, we’re going back to a few key points that alone justify why Battlefield 6 is one of the most anticipated games of this year.

It is without a doubt one of the largest video game licenses in recent years. Since the release of Battlefield 3 (2011) and the incredible Battlefield 4 (2013), the series has managed to dwarf the great Call of Duty. Unfortunately, the previous two opus didn’t have the same success and fell far short of Electronic Arts’ expectations (especially with Battlefield V).

After three years of absence, this new game seems to be the event of the year. According to the latest rumors, Battlefield would return to the origins of its success that made the license famous with a title largely inspired by Opus 3 and 4.

A restart and a lot of damage

According to many insiders, this new installment will be called Battlefield 2042 and feature military wars inspired by Battlefield 3 and 4 (the two most popular episodes of the fans). The game would feature dynamic weather with maps that could evolve through climate disasters. Many elements of the various MAPs could be destructible as in previous games.

An online mode for up to 128 players

According to several insiders who are pretty close to EA and the Battlefield license, this new game would have a 128-player online mode and cross-platform (ability to play with PS5 and Xbox Series X players). The CEO of Electronic Arts also promises “massive and immersive battles” with “more players than ever before”. This 128-player mode would be exclusive to next-gen PCs and consoles, while it would be limited to 64 players online on PS4 and Xbox One.

A battle royale to compete with Warzone

After the failure of the Battlefield V Battle Royale, Electronic Arts and DICE could come back into operation with this new Battlefield to offer a much more efficient online service to counter the Warzone mode of Call of Duty. It remains to be seen whether this mode will be available when the game launches later this year or a little later. If we know the effectiveness of Battlefield’s MAPs, we can already imagine what it might be like in a Battle Royale mode with dynamic weather!

Battlefield on next-gen for fall 2021

Date Wednesday afternoon at 4 p.m. for the presentation of the game, the latter is already planned for the end of the year (probably in October) on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X / S. The title will also appear on PS4 and Xbox One.
